The Manipur State Wetlands Authority (MSWA) was constituted on 31^st January 2018. The Directorate of Environment and Climate Change (DoE&CC) is assigned as the Nodal Office and Secretariat of the Authority. Significant steps are  being taken up for conservation of the wetlands in the state. The conservation of wetlands is heading for a new perspective under the purview of Wetlands (Conservation and Management) Rules, 2017. Loss of wetlands in the state is an alarming situation and it is prior most necessity to document those incredible wetlands and popularize their existence towards steady approach for government notification under the Rules with preparation of Integrated Management Plan (IMP) specifically for each and every wetland. This website is being maintained to display the developments of MSWA regarding conservation of the wetlands in Manipur. Wetlands R & D section of DoE&CC is looking after the developmental programmes, research, documentation and information dissemination relevant to the wetlands.

Manipur State Wetlands Authority (MSWA) constituted on 31^st January 2018, MSWA is a powerful Authority of which the Hon’ble Minister (Forest, Environment and Climate Change), Manipur is the Chairperson. The Chief Secretary is the Vice-Chairperson and Director DoE&CC is the Member Secretary and Convenor. Head of office of concerned line Departments and Eminent Experts are members of the Committee. The Committee is constituted by 22 (twenty two) Members including the Chairperson.

The MSWA has two powerful arms of sub-committees namely Technical Committee of MSWA and Grievance committee of MSWA. The Technical committee is the apex scientific advisory and research cum reporting sub-committee with members handpicked from relevant institutions and departments and organizations. Deputy Director, DoE&CC is the Convenor of the Committee. Every scientific and technical issues or developments are dealt by this committee. The Grievance Committee is formed of 3 (three) Members including the Chairperson.
